Announcing the Spring/Summer 2026 Climate AI Nordics Webinars!

We are thrilled to unveil an incredible lineup of experts for the upcoming Climate AI Nordics webinar series. As we move into the spring and summer months, our network continues to bridge the gap between cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence and the urgent demands of climate science.

From satellite-driven crop mapping to the physics of Earth systems, this season’s program covers a diverse range of topics designed to inspire researchers, policymakers, and tech enthusiasts alike.

A Season of Innovation: Our Upcoming Lineup

Our journey begins on April 23 with Purnendu Sardar from Lund University, who will dive into machine learning based classification of tree crops of Syrian Arab Republic. We return on May 7 to host Solmaz Khazaei from KTH Royal Institute of Technology for a deep dive into advanced flood detection techniques.

On May 28, we welcome Kelsey Doerksen from the Oxford Applied and Theoretical Machine Learning Group (OATML), followed by Ariel Flint Ashery from City St George’s, University of London on June 4, who will discuss the fascinating emergence of social conventions in AI populations.

The final stretch of the season features Gustau Camps-Valls from the University of Valencia on June 11, focusing on Earth observation. We wrap up the series on June 25 with a keynote-level presentation by Markus Reichstein from the Max-Planck-Institute for Biogeochemistry.

These seminars bring together diverse perspectives on how AI can be used to address the challenges of climate change. Our seminars together provide a platform for researchers, policymakers, and the public to engage with cutting-edge research and contribute to the global effort against climate change. The seminars are organized in collaboration with RISE.

Stay tuned for further updates on each seminar. Join us if your are working on how AI can help us navigate one of humanity’s greatest challenges.
